About
I was born and raised in Dublin but found my home in the U.S.
I have a Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering and a Diploma in Law from University College Dublin and the King’s Inns.
In 1995 I joined D. E. Shaw & Co., where I worked in OTC equity derivatives, first in London and later in New York.
In 1999 a friend and I started a company called Vindigo. Backed by General Atlantic Partners, Flatiron Ventures, AOL Ventures, and iHatch, Vindigo grew to become one of the best-known developers and publishers of applications for mobile phones and PDAs in the U.S. In 2004 we sold Vindigo to For-Side, one of the largest mobile content companies in Japan. I led the company as CEO from 1999 until mid-2005 when I left to travel around the Pacific on a nine-month honeymoon with my wife, Summer Powell.
We got back in September 2006, and I spent several months as an entrepreneur-in-residence at i-Hatch Ventures, developing an idea for a new company.
My new company is called Skydeck.
